I have been sitting on this news for a little while, but I am beyond thrilled to share with everyone that my undergraduate research thesis Can Sheet Music Exports Increase a Nation’s Power in International Society? was published in the University of Tampa's Q: Journal of Undergraduate Research & Inquiry back in the Spring of 2024!
The story of my undergrad was people being thoroughly confused by my decision to pursue both a degree in the arts and social sciences. After all, where is the overlap between Musical Theatre and International Studies?
Well, I took that to heart and decided to start thinking about how they may relate to one another and connect in some way. The true catalyst for the idea was just how difficult I was finding it to order sheet music from Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia in contrast with my beloved German and Austrian musicals, which are also limitedly available in comparison with all of the American music available at my fingertips (yes, I do realize that I live in America so that kind of makes sense).
I spent countless hours trying to find existing literature, credible datasets, and questioning what on earth the purpose was of trying to fit the two totally separate but equally important areas of my life together. And at the end of it, was a research paper that I was beyond proud of but planned on leaving as it was. A submitted research paper that would let me walk the stage at graduation.

But thankfully I felt the nudge to submit my paper for publication when I saw that applications for the journal were open because it was such a wonderful experience. Y'all, researching and writing a paper is one thing, but publishing and editing a paper that you poured your blood, sweat, and tears into so it would be ready for a public audience is a whole other thing.
I will forever be grateful to my editors Arthur Drury and Daleyna Abril for their help in reviewing and refining my work so that it was ready for publication. Their questions and critiques pushed me and made me take another look at some of my work and I am a much better person and researcher for all of their work.
If you are on campus at the University of Tampa (or visiting me), feel free to check out the hard copy available in the MacDonald Kelce library and turn to page 61 or you can take some time to read the downloadable copy I'm providing below.
