Coming Soon: I Hate Hamlet at Theatre Tallahassee

I cannot believe that we are officially under a month away from opening night of Paul Rudnick's I Hate Hamlet at Theatre Tallahassee! The cast, crew, and I are hard at work blocking, rehearsing, designing, and running the show, and I am so excited with how everything is coming together. We are having wonderful conversations to help bring John Barrymore, his iconic New York apartment, and each of our characters to life. This show is a wonderful introduction to Shakespeare and one of his most iconic works, but will also be filled with many nods to the Bard's work to excite any bardolaters.

Tickets are available NOW on Theatre Tallahassee's website for all three weekends - starting May 28, 2026, through June 14, 2026! Tickets can be purchased day-of at the Box Office, but seating is reserved, so to secure your seats I would recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.

I look forward to seeing this show come to life on the Theatre Tallahassee mainstage and sharing it with our Tallahassee audiences. If you already have your tickets, feel free to let me know when you are coming so I can make sure to find you and say hello!

Show summary: Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity and acclaim from his starring role in a hit television series; a rich, beautiful girlfriend; a glamorous, devoted agent; the perfect New York apartment; and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. There are, however, a couple of glitches in paradise. Andrew’s series has been canceled; his girlfriend is clinging to her virginity with unyielding conviction; and he has no desire to play Hamlet. When Andrew’s agent visits him, she reminisces about her brief romance with John Barrymore many years ago, in Andrew’s apartment. This prompts a seance to summon his ghost. From the moment Barrymore returns, dressed in high Shakespearean garb, Andrew’s life is no longer his own. Barrymore, fortified by champagne and ego, presses Andrew to accept the part and fulfill his actor’s destiny.
