This semester I had the incredible opportunity to try my hand at another area of theatre production: stage management. When a professor recommended to me that I look into stage management, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, I knew that I wanted to try my hand at it before I graduated.
I have always been a huge advocate for actors and performers working in a crew or tech position at least once throughout their careers because their jobs are so incredibly difficult, but so important. This experience has only given me a greater appreciation and admiration for all of the hard work that the crew and stage management team put in to make a production happen.
I would not have been able to do all of this work without the help of my two fabulous assistant stage managers, Alina Shats and Sofia Carroll. These two young women are absolute pleasures to work with and I know they both have long careers ahead of them, either on stage or off. Thank you to Karla Hartley for the chance to work with you and your guidance, Jordan Clanton for your support and expertise, and to the entire cast and crew for helping put on a fantastic show!
Thank you to all of the stage managers out there for all of the hard work that you do. It does not go unappreciated by this performer!
